All new employees, including re-hires, must complete the e - verify系统 process within three (3) days of the start of their employment by accessing and filling out the online or electronic I-9 Form. 员工 must also be ready to present original verification documentation to their designated e - verify系统 administrator.

e - verify系统 is an electronic or online program administered by the U.S. 部门 首页land Security, USCIS, Verification Division, in partnership with the Social Security 政府. Through this online program, employers verify the employment eligibility of their employees after they are hired.

U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the 美国-要么是美国.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization. The Form I-9 was implemented to document that each new employee (both citizen and non-citizen) hired after November 6, 1986, is authorized to work in the United States.

A presidential Executive Order and subsequent Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) rule required federal contractors to use e - verify系统 to electronically verify the employment eligibility of employees working under covered 联邦合同. The order and the rule reinforced Federal government policy that the Federal government does business only with organizations that have a legal workforce. Effective June 1, 2011, the 研究基金会, a federal contractor, became a designated e - verify雇主.
