课程

The undergraduate curriculum provides training in mechanical engineering theory and 实践. The curriculum is based on a strong core of engineering science courses common to all engineering programs. It also provides excellent preparation for graduate 研究.

By choosing electives under the guidance of a departmental academic advisor, the student may specialize in 一个 or more of the following fields: Mechanical Design, Mechatronics, 和热/液体.

The 机械工程 Bachelor of 科学 degree program is accredited by the 工程 认证 Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org, under the General Program Criteria and the Mechanical and Similarly Named 工程 项目 Program Criteria.

BSME Program 教育 Objectives

Within a few years of graduation, our ME graduates are expected to have:

  1. Applied engineering knowledge and skills to make positive impact on society through employment in industry, advanced 研究, entrepreneurship, and/or public service;
  2. Communicated effectively and performed professionally in both individual and multi-disciplinary team-based project environment;
  3. Engaged in and continue to engage in lifelong self-directed learning, including gathering and evaluating information independently, to maintain and enhance their professional 技能; 
  4. Determined and responded to ethical implications on issues such as public safety and intellectual property protection, and also weighed global and societal impacts of engineering solutions to contemporary problems.

By the time they graduate, our students are expected to have acquired the following: 

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and 满足目标
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
  7. An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning 策略.
